Mass Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan owned by UMass Memorial Health, brings new senior-focused exercise program to plan members

Worcester, MA - Mass Advantage has partnered with Bold to bring its evidence-based exercise and education platform to Mass Advantage’s entire membership.

Mass Advantage offers multiple coverage options to Medicare-eligible individuals across Worcester County. Through our partnership with Bold, Mass Advantage offers its members additional support and encouragement in their exercise and whole-person health journey.

Bold provides Medicare-eligible individuals with personalized programs designed to support healthy aging. Following a brief onboarding assessment, members are offered a senior-focused exercise program designed by human movement and physical therapy experts. The program adapts to members’ feedback and usage, supporting long-term adherence and helping to improve outcomes prioritized by the Medicare Star Ratings program, including reducing falls, improving bladder control, and increasing physical activity.

“At Mass Advantage, our focus is on the unique care journey of Massachusetts seniors in making resources and benefits accessible that can improve quality of life and enable healthy aging,” said Mike Cantor, MD, chief medical officer of Mass Advantage. “Bold exemplifies this member-first approach by making exercise therapy more accessible and approachable for members of all ability levels, unlocking the powerful benefits of exercise as we age.”

“With older adults spending up to a decade of their lives in poor or ill health, prevention has never been more important,” said Amanda Rees, co-founder and CEO of Bold. “We are proud to support Mass Advantage in making programs that address stigmatized, highly prevalent issues like falls and pelvic health more accessible to older adults in Massachusetts.”

Physical inactivity is pervasive amongst older adults, with recent studies indicating that less than 15 percent meet CDC guidelines. Designed with these seniors in mind, Bold’s mission is to activate the inactive, with 40 percent of members having no existing exercise routine prior to joining the platform. Mass Advantage members can immediately utilize this new program by visiting agebold.com/massadvantage or by calling (508)290-6050, (TTY:711).
